The new Centaur battery charger series from Victron Energy was developed for worldwide use. Compliance with general requirements and input/output specifications are the main features of this new product range, designed by the Dutch manufacturer renowned for quality and innovation. Victron Energy Centaur are designed to meet the requirements of both CE marking for Europe and UL marking for the United States. The Centaur series automatically allows an input range from 90 to 265 VAC 50/60 Hz. This means that the devices can be used all over the world.
Quality without compromise
The Victron Energy Centaur's aluminium housing with epoxy powder coating, drip protection against condensation and stainless steel mounting parts withstand the harshest conditions such as heat, humidity and salty atmosphere. The printed circuit boards are safely protected against corrosion by an acrylic coating. Temperature sensors ensure that all power components operate within specified limits and, if necessary, that the output current is automatically reduced under extreme conditions.
Universal 90 to 265 Volt input
All models of the Victron Energy Centaur operate without special adjustment in a voltage range from 90 V to 265 V both at 50 Hz and at 60 Hz.
Three outputs, each with full output current
The Victron Energy Centaur has three separate outputs for simultaneous charging of three battery sets. Each output supplies the full current.
Three-stage charging characteristic with temperature compensation
Victron Energy Centaur first charges with constant current (bulk) until the charge current has fallen to 70% of the nominal value. This is followed by a fixed four-hour constant voltage phase followed by a trickle charge phase. The charging voltage is regulated by the internal temperature sensor (-2mV/°C per cell). A tip switch can be used to set the optimum charging voltage values for the respective battery types (e.g. wet lead battery, gel battery or AGM battery).
