Finally really being seen with the latest class B+ AIS with SOTDMA broadcasts from Digital Yacht!
The Digital Yacht AIT5000 is a class B+ AIS transponder with 5W output power, a Wi-Fi interface, a built-in VHF splitter and uses SOTDMA transmissions.
Digital Yacht has introduced a new range of Class B+ AIS transponders. Class B+, a new standard, uses SOTDMA format transmissions that offer 5W power (2.5x stronger than a normal Class B), a guaranteed time window for transmission in busy areas, and faster update rates depending on ship speed. It is ideal for ocean-going sailors requiring the best possible performance and future-proof satellite positioning applications, fast motorboats and smaller, nonmandated commercial vessels. It continues to work with existing Class B and Class A systems.
Smaller ships and boats can benefit enormously from a 5W SOTDMA Class B transponder for navigation, but the requirements for installing an additional VHF antenna can be a deterrent. This is where the AIT5000 Nucleus Digital Yacht comes in.
Not only does it have a fully equipped Class B AIS transponder, but it is also equipped with an antenna splitter so that the existing VHF antenna can also be used simultaneously for transmitting and receiving AIS data.
NMEA 0183, NMEA 2000 and USB interfaces and WLAN access provide connectivity for PC, Mac, tablets, iPads and smart phones, literally making the Nucleus the heart of your onboard navigation system.
The Digital Yacht AIT5000 also acts as a multiplexer, transmitting AIS data as well as available NMEA data that can be aggregated and wirelessly transmitted to mobile devices. The Nucleus offers maximum connectivity and integration.

NOTE ON SOTDMA TECHNOLOGY
Class B+ is a new generation of AIS functionalities based on SOTDMA (self organized TMDA) messaging and not on the simpler CSTDMA (carrier sense TDMA). It guarantees that your AIS transmission gets a time window, even in areas with very high traffic density. It also specifies a 5W transmission power (compared to 2W for Class B) and a transmission rate that increases with ship speed. With normal Class B protocol, the transmission rate is set every 30 seconds as the ship moves. It is ideal for ocean-going sailors who need the best possible performance and future-proof satellite positioning applications, fast motorboats and smaller, nonmandated merchant ships.
