Modern technology for a safe, reliable and easy connection of NMEA 0183, RS422 or RS232 devices to the USB port of the PC
ISO-DriveTM output and OPTO isolated input
Isolated input & isolated output
Protection of the PC through galvanic isolation
The Actisense USG-2 converts a USB port into a bi-directional serial port required for communication with NMEA 0183 devices. Compared to simple USB to serial converters, a much more secure connection to the NMEA 0183 system is guaranteed. By using the ISO-DriveTM output and the OPTO-isolated input a galvanic isolation is provided. This allows the data lines to be connected easily without ground loops forming. In the input, Actisense uses an OPTO isolator circuit to protect the connected devices from system errors. In addition, it also allows the reception of very weak signals, which are often too small from conventional USB to serial converters and therefore are not received by the PC interface. The specially developed USB socket in combination with the high-quality shielded USB cable (included in the scope of delivery) guarantees a high level of moisture protection for the USB connection. The screwless connection terminals allow a quick and easy installation. The connection states are indicated by several LEDs and allow a quick and easy diagnosis in case of connection problems. The blue power LED is constantly on when the USB driver has been successfully loaded and the Actisense USG-2 is powered. The green (receive) and orange (transmit) LEDs indicate if data is present.
