The motor boat and its categories
A motor boat has many diverse uses. It is for recreational purposes (eg, cruiser, daycruiser, weekender) used, on the other, as place of residence (house boat), as a working vehicle or in the largest form as cruise ship. A motor boat can be quite seaworthy. The motor boat interiors range from simple cabins to luxurious inventory with jacuzzi and sauna.
Motor boat History
The first motor boat was developed by Gottlieb Daimler in 1886, which operates on the principle of petrol engine. In August 1886 Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach test drove the boat in the Neckar. By the end of 1886, the first public presentation of a motor boat took place on the forest lake in Cannstatt.
Design principles of a motor boat
There are two basic design principles of a motor boat: displacement boat and glider. A displacment boat displaces the amount of water equal to its own weight. A glider, usually a lighter boat is capable by its construction, is capable of leaving the bow wave behind and thereby displacing less water than its weight. This also means a speedboat creates a smaller wake and "slides" over the water.
The motor boat is sporty
The motor boat has also developed its own sport. Like the Formula 1 in the automotive sector there are so-called motor boat races where speed boats (motor boat, which construction especially emphasises high speeds and competitive racing in sporting competitions) compete against each other in different classes. Since 1908 motor boat races have been part of the Olympic program. The fastest motor boat can reach speeds of over 300 km/h.
