"boot,” the biggest trade fair in the world comes to a successful close
Berlin, 30th January 2012: The 43rd edition of the international "boot" boat exhibition in Düsseldorf came to a close yesterday having seen a total of around 250,000 visitors. Organisers and exhibitors give their evaluation.
"We are very satisfied with the way the trade fair went. We managed to stablise the number of visitors this year at the high number we received at the last event,” said Werner Matthias Dornscheidt, head of the Düsseldorf trade fair’s executive board. Around 1700 exhibitors from 62 countries presented their wares. “What’s even more important for the exhibiting businesses is that they were able to make contact with the public at their stands, who were high-class and interested in buying,” added Dornscheid.
The biggest water sports trade fair in the world is still the flagship of the industry, confirmed Jürgen Tracht, chairman of the Federal Association of German Watersports Industries (Bundesverband Wassersportwirtschaft, BVWW). This year was no exception and there were many new developments. In first place: the sailing boat and sailing yacht. Nearly half of the visitors were interested in making a purchase in this area. Also demand for sailing boat accessories was up. One in three visitors collected information about motorboats, mainly of average sizes. The industry is also talking of increased interest in large yachts.
Almost 30 per cent of the visitors paid a visit to hall 3, where the diving companies were exhibiting their wares. Diving is in a boom phase. Equipment manufacturers were more than satisfied and spoke of growing turnovers. Diving taster courses proved highly popular, but the champion was the canoe test-track, which celebrated its premiere this year.
