Laser - an Olympic class
As sailors, Kirby and Bruce knew that when a class of boat is known and loved, they must be geared for competitions and regattas for all ages and skill levels. They decided to always keep the same hull and only vary the sail area. This made Laser regattas possible for men, women, teenagers and children alike. Since the Laser was always identical and easily available, it was the sailor who won the race - not the boat! This also made the decisive difference which allowed Laser boats to join the ranks of the Olympic class!
Laser Radial and Laser 4.7
After a while, three different Laser designs evolved from the first version of the Laser. The Radial Rigging conquered the market as the Laser became well known across North America and Europe. During this time, sailors throughout the entire world came to recognize the Laser as occupying an important position in the sailing racing world. Laser Radial quickly became the class for women and teenagers.
Encouraged by the success of the Laser Radial, the 4.7 Rigging went into development in England in 1989. Children found that they could handle the smaller sail of the Laser 4.7 just as well as grown men could handle the Laser Standard. The 4.7 became very popular in Europe and Asia in the 90's. The flood came a bit later in America, as ambitious young people began to train for the Olympics.
Laser distribution in Germany
The Laser distribution of dinghies and products in Germany was restructured in 2007. After the company’s success in England, France and Italy, a central marketing structure was also launched with a nationwide general importer in Germany. The purpose was a fresh start with committed and enthusiastic staff who completely dedicated themselves to the Laser product. Laser Germany is operated by Ziegelmayer Handelsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG in Hamburg. The store opened on 1 January 2008.
With the Laser company philosophy "We get you on the water!" Ferdinand Ziegelmayer helps interested sailors with a personal service and regular new offers that go far beyond the sale of the Laser boats, freeing buyers to enjoy their free time on the water.
